UPMC St. Margaret is looking to hire a Full-Time MRI Technologist to work weekend shifts. We are looking for highly engaged and motivated candidates to provide high-quality services to our patients. < 2 years experience: $10,000 with a 2-year commitment

>2 years experience: $15,000 with a 2-year commitment OR $30,000 with a 3-year commitment

Weekend Program Guidelines:

\n
    \n
  • Eligible participants must work 48 weekends per year, 24 hours per weekend (either two 12-hour or three 8-hour shifts per weekend), between the hours of Friday at 3 p.m. and Monday at 7 a.m.
  • \n
  • 15% differential on your base rate
  • \n
  • Minimum of six months of experience is required.
  • \n
  • Eligible participants may use up to a total of 96 hours of a combination of scheduled and unscheduled Paid Time Off (PTO) and Ill Time Off (ITO) on the weekends for a maximum of eight weekend shifts off in a fiscal year. Holiday scheduling and work requirements will mirror the department’s standard expectations for non-weekend staff.

  • Working an extra shift during the week shall not offset a participant’s obligation to work 24 weekend hours per weekend. Weekday hours will be paid at the participant’s regular weekday rate.

*The MRI Technologist is an important first step in our MRITech Career Ladder. Final candidates will be placed into the appropriate job title and salary structure based on skill, experience, and education.*

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities: \n
    \n
  • Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
  • \n
  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data including the labeling /preparation/and administration of contrast. Documents patient history in electronic record as required.

  • Prior to start of exam, reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol
  • \n
  • Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all patient information is updated and documented in Rad Assessment, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.

  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.

  • Performs procedures for reviewing, processing and archiving.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • \n

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMIT or ARDMS program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
