Summary: VetnCare is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team at our
Montclair pet hospital in Oakland, CA! Veterinary Assistants are essential to our clinic's daily operations and play an integral part in our team. They are focused on appointments, treatments, dental cleanings, and surgical assistance. Our structured online and practical training program will help you advance your skills and knowledge in these areas. You will work closely with our doctors and provide a great experience for our patients while gaining continuing opportunities to learn new skills through our structured training program.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: - Physical examinations and patient assessment- TPR, Treatment Plan Presentation, Treatments
- Surgical preparation and assisting
- Anesthesia monitoring and recovery
- Dentistry cleanings and x-rays
- Radiology- Full body and extremities
- Inpatient care
- Venipuncture/laboratory processing
- Catheter placement
- Training and development of junior/new veterinary assistants
Qualifications: - Previous experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility preferred
- Must be friendly, outgoing, "people oriented"
- Comfortable around animals
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be capable of being cross-trained for occasional front office receptionist duties
- Telephone and computer skills are necessary.
- A team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept change
- The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 50 pounds

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, VetnCare is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $20.00 to $30.00, dependent on experience.
This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensures and certifications, education, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
