Job Posting: Senior Staff Accountant

Location: Mesa, AZ

Salary: $100,000 Base Salary

About the Role:

Our client is looking for a diligent and knowledgeable Senior Staff Accountant to join their team in Mesa, AZ. The chosen candidate will be responsible for handling general ledger accounts, ensuring precise financial reporting, and supporting various accounting tasks across a vast network of stores.

Primary Duties:

• Oversee general ledger accounts and assist in the completion of month-end and year-end financial closings.
• Review and investigate assigned P&L line items for discrepancies across over 500 store P&Ls.
• Work closely with the Accounting Manager to implement ASC 842 Lease standards for approximately 500 leases.
• Approve monthly rent disbursements for locations nationwide.
• Set up new leases in the Rent Management Software.
• Manage property tax schedules to ensure correct funding to various taxing authorities.
• Evaluate store performance activities and post necessary reclassification entries to maintain GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and record expenses for regional and corporate store profit and loss statements.
• Contribute to the Process Improvement Team, aiding in the execution of company strategies and process enhancements.
• Perform additional reporting tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.
• 3-5 years of professional accounting experience.
• CPA certification preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Skills:

• Advanced skills in Excel, including VLOOKUPS, pivot tables, and complex formula usage, with the ability to analyze extensive datasets.
• Strong communication skills, capable of clearly explaining processes and research findings.
