Senior Sales Engineer Job Description
Job Overview:
We're looking for a dedicated Senior Sales Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will present a personal and professional image, supporting our culture of world-class customer satisfaction. You will provide customers and potential customers with product and application knowledge to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Management: Manage the selling activities of our cylinder products through independent distributors and direct accounts along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. Ensure divisional goals are achieved in terms of maximum sales volume and profitability.
Customer Relationships: Maintain close relationships with current distributors, develop sales goals, evaluate progress, and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimum market coverage.
Market Development: Develop additional general or specialty sales channels to achieve maximum sales in specific markets or for specific products.
Customer Acquisition: Locate, contact, qualify, and secure business with existing or potential direct customers, OEMs, resale, and national accounts.
Market Analysis: Understand the geographic territory in relation to market potential, current market penetration, and opportunities for growth.
Product Knowledge: Have expert knowledge and understanding of our entire cylinder product line, including performance, mechanical operation, proper applications, and customer features and benefits.
Competitive Analysis: Understand local competition, their marketing strengths and weaknesses, product offerings, and how to effectively market our products over theirs.
Sales Meetings: Plan, schedule, and conduct sales meetings as needed to instruct distributor personnel on product offerings, engineering and policy changes, special pricing, terms and discounts, new market opportunities, and competitive actions.
Reporting: Report monthly progress activities including distributor performance, future sales projections, significant competitive actions, obstacles, and opportunities.
Sales Channels: Work with sales channels to pursue a wider variety of product applications.
Budget Management: Operate within approved sales expense budgets.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate and cooperate with other functional areas to establish and maintain open two-way communication by supplying accurate and timely information.
Annual Goal Planning: Develop and present an annual goal plan for net sales and profit.
Profit Maximization: Maximize gross profit margins through distributors or direct accounts.
Travel Planning: Submit monthly itineraries with projected travel plans and customer visits.

Extensive knowledge and experience with selling hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder equipment
Thorough understanding of market and customer requirements, cylinder equipment performance, functionality, characteristics, features, and benefits
Territory Coverage:
The territory includes Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.
Up to 50%-75% travel required
