Mental Health Technician to join our team! We are a family-owned, family-operated, and family-focused organization. FCS is a New Jersey Department of Education and Clinic and Agency, approved provider for local district and clinic services. We provide services to public, private, and charter schools, including ABA, consultation and mental health support. Our staff take a collaborative approach by regularly partnering with the child study team members, teachers, guidance counselors, and administration to progress towards the best possible outcome for the school community. Mental Health Technicians play a vital role as integral members of the students' care team, offering direct support to those facing mental illness, emotional distress, or behavioral challenges hindering academic success. Services are provided within the school setting.
Day to day functions of the Mental Health Technician include: - Evaluate students' mental status, behavior, and mood.
- Execute treatment plans directed by mental health professionals.
- Offer emotional support and guidance, assisting students in applying coping mechanisms and managing symptoms.
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and observations in clinical documentation
- Uphold a safe and therapeutic environment, de-escalate crisis situations, and prioritize overall safety.
- Effectively collaborate with team members, including administrators, educators, clinical social workers, and counselors.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay abreast of best practices in mental health care.
What we require from you: - HSD Diploma required
- Experience working with mental health population or mood disorders
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering rapport and trust with students.
- Excellent observational and assessment skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic nature, driven by a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform some lifting and bending.
