Teacher Mentor Volunteer
EDIFY Program
Volunteer Position
100% Virtual, Flexible Schedule
Position Summary:
Join us in empowering foster youth through a new program at KVC West Virginia called EDIFY!
EDIFY is an early intervention initiative serving foster youth in grades three through seven, providing mentorship, tutoring, and preparation for success in high school and beyond. The program is youth-led by college students who were once foster youth, creating a supportive and relatable environment. Our Success Coaches are newer to teaching, and we're seeking experienced retired educators to guide them in instructional methods and teaching practices. As a Teacher Mentor Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in mentoring these Success Coaches by helping them develop effective teaching strategies that can be adapted to the needs of foster youth.
In this role, you will provide mentorship to Success Coaches, contributing to the program's overall mission of building resilience and confidence in foster youth. You will meet with your assigned Success Coaches weekly to review lesson planning, discuss learning goals, and observe tutoring sessions.
This 100% virtual role allows mentors to be located anywhere, making it accessible to passionate educators nationwide.
Schedule:
Approximately 8-10 hours per week (flexible scheduling based on volunteer availability). EDIFY tutoring hours are between 4-8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some of the mentorship can be done during the day due to the flexibility of our Success Coaches college class schedule.
