Position Summary

The Director of Data Technology will be responsible for driving the organization's strategic technology initiatives, as well as overseeing its enterprise business systems to ensure effective growth and support of all data technology functions across the organization. The Director of Data Technology will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our data strategy, overseeing vendor relationships, managing internal staff, and collaborating with the Executive Leadership Team to drive data technology initiatives across the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring the seamless operation of our business and progressing its digital evolution.

Essential Functions:

DATA STRATEGY & ANALYTICS

  • Formulate and execute IT strategies that support the company's global business objectives.
  • Monitor emerging tech trends for potential business impacts and advantages.
  • Plan and advocate for system updates based on new technological developments.
  • Assess new technologies for their applicability to the organization.
  • Create and regularly update a technology roadmap to maintain industry leadership.
  • Establish an organizational digital solutions plan in line with overarching IT goals.
  • Incorporate advanced tools like Generative-AI to boost digital capabilities.
  • Work with stakeholders to enhance processes through digital tech integration.
  • Craft a forward-thinking digital strategy to guide the organization's future.
  • Implement advanced analytics program for insights and improved operational efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives in data transformation to maximize data asset value.
  • Evaluate and prioritize digital innovation projects for incubation.
  • Lead the organization's digital transformation initiatives.

TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of cutting-edge digital and data technologies.
  • Drive the development and execution of innovative digital solutions in collaboration with various business units.
  • Offer strategic advice on digital services, new technologies, and market trends to executive leadership.
  • Oversee vendor, service provider relationships, and consulting services, including contract negotiations and service quality.
  • Oversee the administration of the organization's computer networks, ensuring regular maintenance and timely upgrades. Maintain a secure and modern technology infrastructure aligned with industry standards.
  • Coordinate with direct staff and/or external consultants and resources for software installations, system enhancements, and procurement/set-up of telecommunications services.

DATA GOVERNANCE

  • Develop, implement, and/or maintain comprehensive data governance policies to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of data.
  • Establish and/or maintain cybersecurity protocols to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats.
  • Ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in data management and security systems.
  • Collaborate with data and programs teams to align data governance and security strategies with organizational goals.
  • Provide training and support to staff on data protection best practices and legal compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data security measures and compliance with data governance policies.
  • Manage data access controls and audit trails to track data usage and adherence to privacy standards; Respond promptly to data incidents and breaches, and lead investigation and remediation efforts.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in data security technology and healthcare industry regulations to continuously improve data governance strategies.

TEAM LEADERSHIP & STAFFING

  • Engage in on-going performance management of staff including coaching, mentoring, development, and succession planning to include hiring and termination decisions.
  • Develop a training and development plan for each direct report. This plan should identify the team members’ strengths and development needs and a training plan, including timing, to address these weakness or development opportunities.
  • Supervise and manage assigned staff in accordance with agency personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, guidance, etc. Participate in the process of ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Maintain comprehensive communication among all contacts (internal and external).
  • Provide oversight and guidance for volunteers assigned to program.
  • Model professional standards and ethics in accordance with agency philosophy.
  • Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients.

Requirements

Education/Experience/Credentials/Knowledge/Understanding

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Finance or related business field, and MBA is highly desirable; A proven track record of leadership in digital & data transformation, ideally in a large, nonprofit organization (10+ years).
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsot Technoloogy Stack with demonstrated experience in planning and deploying applications from the stack across an organization (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, PowerApps, PowerAutomate, etc.)

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated understanding of digital technologies and trends, including IoT, cloud computing digital thread, and emerging technologies. Expertise in advanced analytics including data visualization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and business intelligence tools (10+ years).
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and change management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Must be able to work with multiple deadlines, possess solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the agency and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word & Outlook).

Physical Demands

  • Primarily office work, however travel within the state may be required.
  • Evening/Weekend hours required as needed.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps.
  • Must be able to visually and auditory assess and interact with staff and vendors.
  • May lift up to 25 pounds.
