Job Description
SUMMARY
The Director, Environmental, Health and Safety is responsible for overseeing that Special Metals Corporation is in compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times.
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the company.
• Update safety policies in order to make the organization safe and hazard free in nature.
• Direct several administering and safety guidelines for implementation of the best safety policies.
• Lead and direct the work of the Health, Safety and Environmental staff.
• Conduct different inspections and safety audits in order ensure the compliance with the environmental and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Develop, update and manage the workplace safety procedures, programs and policies.
• Develop, implement and maintain employee training programs.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• B.S. Degree required, preferably in Safety Management or Environmental Health or related field.
• 8-10 years of progressive experience in leading and implementing safety and environmental health programs in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise and knowledge of health and safety regulations is required. Certification in Ergonomics, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Associate Safety professional (ASP) is a plus.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to function independently, and also work well as part of a team.
• Proven leader in EHS with sustained performance record - technical expert in principles, methodologies, and in the successful implementation of EHS culture.
SPECIAL SKILLS
• Extensive experience in Microsoft Office is required.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Demonstrated and verifiable ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, e.g., from hourly employees to senior management.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - FREQUENTLY MOVES ABOUT THE PRODUCTION FACILITIES. MUST BE ABLE TO DETECT UNSAFE CONDITIONS FROM LONG DISTANCES.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT REQUIRES THE EMPLOYEE TO WORK BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE IN HEAT/COLD, WET/HUMID AND DRY/ARID CONDITIONS. FREQUENTLY REQUIRED THE USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT TO PREVENT EXPOSURE TO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS MAY BE MADE TO ENABLE INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
